Wendel Millstead, Chief of Police

WENDEL MILLSTEAD WAS APPOINTED Chief of Police by Mayor Bonnie Bare, approved by the City Commission, the evening of Tuesday, January 4, 2022 and sworn into office Wednesday, January 5, 2022. 

Chief Millstead retired from the City of Flint Police Department (1998 - 2012) at the rank Sergeant. However, he most recently served with the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office (2012 - 2021).

Chief Millstead also served with the Village of Holly Police Department (1988 - 1989) and the City of Lake Angelus Police Department (1987 - 1989).

Chief Millstead is a graduate of the Michigan State University School of Staff and Command and is nearing completion of an undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan – Flint.

 

The Chief of Police is under the general direction of the City Administrator and provides leadership and manages public safety issues in the community. She develops, trains, mentors, and leads the Police staff as well as provides oversight and direction in project management as needed.
